D STERLING

Sterling finds painting to be a deeply fulfilling creative outlet. He explains, "Painting gives me complete control from start to finish, which is both a blessing and a curse. It's great when the work turns out well, but there's no one else to blame but myself when it doesn't."

Describing his style as "Romantic Impressionism," Sterling says, "I think this term best captures how and why I paint. I try to appreciate all forms of art, but Impressionism was the first to truly move me. It's bold, vibrant, and full of life and color. It has an uninhibited, magical quality. Instead of depicting something with accuracy, it makes you feel it. That's why I interpret life through this style—it invites viewers to engage emotionally."

His paintings are characterized by an immediate, expressive quality that invites viewers to connect emotionally. Whether depicting an intimate interior, a vibrant cityscape, or a romantic getaway, Sterling aims to touch the viewer's soul.

Sterling credits his influences as Claude Monet, for his use of colour and bold brushwork; Joaquin Sorolla, for his passionate expression; and John Singer Sargent, for his simple mastery. The freedom inherent in the creative process excites him, and he finds it to be the most precious and fulfilling aspect of being an artist.
